HISTORY

Avgorou is the fourth largest village of the Kokkinochoria and was named after the King of Salamis Evagoras (435 – 374 BC). According to tradition, the King often visited the community because he maintained his baths there.

ANNUAL EVENTS

Pancyprian Potato Festival: One of the biggest cultural festivals in the Kokkinochoria area is organised in Avgorou annually. At the festival you will have the opportunity to try free potatoes cooked in various ways and find many products made from potatoes.

 Easter events: Every year, on Easter Tuesday, a big music and dance event is organised in the village square.

Quality potatoes have been cultivated in Avgorou for decades and it’s the main product for local consumption and export

• Be sure to go to the Pancyprian Potato Festival. You will taste the most delicious potatoes.
• Do not miss this experience: the CyHerbia Botanical Park & Labyrinth is a must see, with the largest maze in Cyprus.
• On June 29, on the day of The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the community organises a big festival and celebrates the occasion.
