Places of Interest in Protaras

Along with its soft sandy beaches and crystal clear Mediterranean waters, there are also many places of interest in Protaras and the surrounding area. Whether you just need a few hours away from your sun lounger or you appreciate the value of some local culture, you will never run out of interesting places of interest in Protaras to visit.

Ascott Pottery

The long-standing Ascott Pottery is located a few kilometres outside of the resort and is conveniently positioned on the public bus route, making it easy to reach from anywhere in Protaras. From opportunities to try your hand at the potter’s wheel and see how this traditional form of pottery making is done to picking up some reasonably priced souvenirs, the workshops and store are well worth a visit.

Magic Dancing Waters

A mixture of high-tech lasers, smoke, fire and water make Magic dancing Waters one of the most visited places of interest in Protaras. Located on a resort, right next to the MacDonald’s restaurant and takeaway, it is the perfect way to spend an entertaining evening outdoors. Dramatic music and twelve-metre high coloured water spouts create a memorable and spectacular performance that you will not want to miss.

Ocean Aquarium

While you don’t have sharks to worry about while bathing in the warm waters of the Mediterranean, you can still see them along with lots of other interesting marine life at the Ocean Aquarium on Cavo Greco Avenue. Featuring 15000 square feet of tropical gardens and over 400 different species of marine life, the Ocean Aquarium is one of the must-visit places of interest in Protaras. The local bus from the resort stops right outside and there is also plenty of free parking for visitors.

Ocean Aquarium sits at the far end of Cavo Greco Avenue near the Kapparis roundabout and is on route to Ascott Pottery, making it an ideal visit as part of a planned excursion.
