Adventure Activities
Since Ayia Napa has so many young people visiting every year, there has recently been a surge in adrenalin-pumping activities. Here are the main ones:

Bungee Downunder
Nissi Beach (near Nissi Beach Hotel) (99684789)
Open 9am-6pm daily until September, depending on the weather.
(If it’s too windy you can’t jump).
Helpful and friendly Australian staff. Cost is around £45-50 per person for a package including the jump, large color photos of you plunging down 200 ft, T-shirt and a beer. Boasts a totally accident-free record.

Bungee Rocket
Nissi Avenue (opposite Sky coaster, behind McDonalds)
Open 3pm-late daily.
It consists of a small circular cage which is attached to bungee ropes. Once you’re inside (2 people only) and duly strapped in, it flings you about 100ft up into the air in 2 seconds. Around £12 per person. Videos of the “trip” are available at an extra charge.

Quad Bikes
Next to Dome Hotel (23724403, 99633459)
Open 9am-7pm daily.
These 4-wheeled off-road bikes can be rented to go around a track or can take off in single file along the sandy beach for approximately 40 minutes. Using Kawasaki 300/220cc bikes (50cc for kids), these machines have real power! £14.00 for safari, £3.00 for 5 minutes on track, £5.00 for 10 minutes.

Rally Karting

Rally Karting is for true Thrill-seekers. The karts are 400cc Madrax off-road karts with built-in safety roll bars. Race suits, gloves and helmets are compulsory and provided with karts.

Skycoaster
Off Nissi Avenue (opposite McDonald’s) (99891251)
Amazing “swing” ride, where you are hoisted up (in safety flight suits and body harness-like handgliders) then let go to travel up to 70 miles per hour through an arc radius of approximately 200ft. Great views of the area for a couple of seconds and a rush that almost takes your breath away. Loud music pumps away in the background. Up to 3 people can swing together. This year “Party nite” includes a flight, t-shirt, baseball cap, BBQ and open bar for 3 hours, all for £20.

Sling Shot
Nissi Avenue (inside La Luna Fun FaIr)
Using air compression, rather than the “rubber band” effect, the Sling Shot travels higher and possibly faster than the Bungee Rocket, but doesn’t last quite so long. Travel 100 meters (that’s a 30-storey building) in 2 seconds they guarantee you won’t be sick! Prices vary depending on how many times you go on it. Videos, t-shirts, souvenirs available.

Bowling
Virtuality Bowling and Internet Café

This 4-lane mini-bowling centre is a hub of activity since, in addition to the bowling, there are 8 computer terminals (connected to the Internet), a pool table, big TV, board games, and a fully-stocked bar. Downstairs is an entire floor of arcade games and pinball machines. Bowling costs £1 per person per game.

FISHING

Ayia Napa is one of the only places where you can go deep sea fishing and be guaranteed to cutch something. From June to September, tuna fishing is very popular. There are several different companies operating fishing trips.

Zorbas Fishing Trips

Trips leave every day around 3pm and last 5-6 hours. They include a snack (sandwiches) and cost £30 per person. Alternatively, if you are with a group of friends, you may prefer to charter the boat privately, which sometimes works out cheaper.

MINI-GOLF

A fairly large 18-hole course and on the last go, the “green” doesn’t return your ball – so be prepared. The snack bar at the front is a very popular choice and offers quite an extensive snack menu. Cost: £1.50 per person includes putter, ball, scorecard and pencil.

WATERSPORT

There are many watersport crews out there just waiting for you to decide whether you want to fly in a parachute behind a boat (parasailing), jump on a banana boat or just float around on a pedalo.

WATERWORLD WATERPARK
Waterworld was one of the first waterparks to open in Cyprus. It has won nine international awards, including “Most Innovative Waterpark” from the European Waterparks Association.
Situated at Ayia Thekla, about 2km outside Ayia Napa, Waterworld can be clearly seen from the main road and has Greek Mythology as its theme.
There are aptly-named slides and rides for all ages, each of which is carefully monitored by qualified staff, and two recent additions are unique to Cyprus: the Drop to Atlantis (with light, sound, and visual effects) and the Fall of Icarus (a rollercoaster-type slide). This year’s innovation is “The Quest of Hercules “, a twisted, super-speed double slide. Other slides include the Zeus Zenith and Mt. Olympus Kamikaze slides, the Aelos Whiripool, open and closed slides of varying lengths up to 370 feet, an activity pool and a Lazy River. For very small children, the Pegasus Pool has zero depth entry and for older children, there is the Trojan Adventure – an activity centre on top of which a giant bucket sits filling up slowly with water then drenching everyone below.
